I am planning to go Brazil Amazon for 5 nights? What tour do I go from? What to do's and don't.

Maybe you'll get some ideas from these Amazonas pics..first Rio and vicinity, then on to Amazon. Please bear in mind that Brazil is close in size to USA..very long distance between Rio and Manaus (Amazonas).

I have a recommendation for a guide in the Amazon who has his own power launch. If you'd like his coordinates, post here and I will comply. His name is Francesco and you'll see his picture in the above pix. There is one of him piranha fishing (he caught 15 which we ate for dinner that night..actually sweet and delicious. (I caught ONE)

Is he from any company?

He's independent, at least was four years ago. He was once associated with a Manaus company as a indepdent contractor.

Stu (he is very popular with many vilages along the Rio Negro and the Amazon, as you can see by pix..always brought sugar, evaporated milk and coffee for any visit. Families even applauded him when he came to visit).

My recommendation is to get out of Manaus which is a large city and to base yourself at a lodge which further out in the jungle. We liked www.anavilhanaslodge.com but there are many others at various price points.

The guide I recommended, IF you can get in toch with him, has his own motor launch, no need for hotels ot inns, no matter where. The boat is your hotel. It only has two cabins...very comfortable, en suite, etc. Very good chef on board.

What's his name tower?? So you are on water all the time? Yes that's what I wanna to do marija. We are planing for 4 nights. Is that enough?

rim: All the guides coordinates are way up above in the Feb. 11th post. I listed them last week. You haven't read it? I do not agree with Marija. The Amazon experience can be best enjoyed by visiting actual villages, canoeing up the tributaries, not at the swimming pool of an expense lodge. My opinion. You've gotta do what you wanna do.

pooch...all guide information is posted above. Launch was plenty big but still small enough to sail on the narrow tributaries which made everything so exciting. The food on board was far more than just adequate...wonderful female cook..everything made to order. She even fried some of the piranhas in a delicious batter. We got off ship every day and into a canoe the mother launch was pulling along. Tramping through the jungle going from village to village...couldn't get closer to the Amazonas inhabitants. At leisure..plenty of it, while moored in beautiful, lonely surroundings. Slept with the cooing and murmurs of the wildlife..occasionally a fight between two of something or other. Picture taking galore. We were totally engulfed in the atmosphere. See pix for better descriptions.

The cost. I don't recall.....I do know that it was within our moderate budget.
