Machu Picchu tour groups
 

We're considering a cruise that ends in Lima and would like to find an outfit that runs small group tours from there to Machu Picchu and Cusco.
Can anyone recommend one?

I'm not sure why you would need a group tour to Machu Picchu and Cusco. You can arrange this on your own, or if you don't want to deal with logistics, you could ask a local agent in Peru to book it all for you. But absolutely no reason to tie yourself to a group fur.

Kathie - you are clearly a young'un!
There does come a time when many over-70s prefer group travel.
Aside from being much easier and offering often interesting company, being on an organized tour gets you up and about.
We see and do much more nowadays when we travel with a group.
That said, we do choose small-group tours.

One of my friends liked the OAT tour.

You can also book your own airfare to Cusco, and then have your hotel arrange for transfers, guides, etc.

There are also a number of Peruvian companies that are always being touted on the internet, particularly Tripadvisor, but none I can recommend. I find Peru very easy for independent travel, also. And I am not a spring chicken.

We've done a lot of OAT trips and are looking into them if this cruise doesn't pan out. How did your friend do with the altitude?

She was fine, NGail. She went to the Amazon afterwards and hated it, though! (Out here in So Cal we don't do humidity).

She likes the community visits and the smaller group size, yet relatively affordable.

NGail,as OAT allows you to buy this tour as land only, wouldn't it also work out as an add=on to the tour?

If you have miles, you can fly one way back from Lima to the US.

And I believe JetBlue may be selling reasonably priced oneway tickets, also, to Florida.

I looked into that (great minds think alike LOL!)
There was a time gap which would give us a total of 6 days in Lima - A bit too much!
(cruise - 18 days + 4 more days in Lima + 10 day OAT trip - that's a long trip!)

We are doing a one way cruise to Lima then touring Peru after and flying back to the US using United miles. There are plenty of tour operators in Cusco who will plan out everything for you, but it would normally be a private tour.
