Machu Picchu

Hello,
Is it a big mistake to plan a trip over Thanksgiving? I know it is off season, but it is the time we can go.

Thank you

Not if you can get everything lined up, including flights into Cusco, train tickets (easier from Ollantaytambo), lodging (same, stay in Olly) and MP entrance tickets. I'm not sure if it's really off season, maybe for hiking but I think visiting over a US holiday it should still be busy. I went to Peru once in that time frame, and it does rain in the Andes (usually late afternoon thunderstorms, but varies each year). Probably best to plan for a morning entry.

Don't make the newbie mistake of staying first in Cusco. Save that for the night before you fly back to Lima.

Good luck. It may rain, or may not. But it's early into the rainy season. So should be okay.
