Luggage on Aerolineas, fees???
 

Are there baggage fees for checked in luggage on Aerolineas flights within the country, like there is here in the U.S.?

Are they restrictive on fluids/aerosols/gels as they are here as well, 3 oz max?

Just trying to figure out what I can bring, and what I should buy there. For instance, mosquito repellent for Iguazu, buy in BsAs, or wait until in Iguazu? Thanks for your help.

I haven't flown with Aerolineas, but I doubt there are fees for checking your bag. It would put them out of synch with the other South American carriers.

Can you check the ticket, usually that information is specified on the ticket. Failing that give them a call to double check.

Hi, I know they have domestically one 15K checked bag and internationally one 20K checked bag free of charge. It's pretty laid out on their web page. I have to start making hotel decisions and maybe you could give me an opinion. I would like to stay 5 nights at the Tryp hotel in BA and after all my excursions elsewhere, come back for the last two nights at the Mine Hotel.

However, 15K or 33lbs is not that much for one check in. If I was staying at the same hotel, they would store stuff I didn't need to take along and it would be there when I got back. On the flip side..I guess I could carry-on the heavy stuff and check in a lighter load.

One of my flights is to Iguazu (15K) and the other from Iguazu to Montevideo (20K). Pluna has a very liberal weight allowance, but charges $10 to check a bag if you check-in on the internet and $20 if you don't.

My bag this last trip to South American, my bag started off rather light at 13k and was 17k at the end, by which time I'd bought four books (one very heavy hardback), and an additional two pairs of shoes. If you don't need to take warm clothes, I think it's quite easy to stay around 15k.

I am going in May, so I think some warm stuff is a must...but I do try and pack light!

How soon in advance of your trip did you buy your Aerolineas tickets? On my last trip (the one I didn't go on...), we booked Lan/Pluna through Expedia WAY in advance and thought we got a good deal. What we got was a million changes of schedule between then and the time my friends flew. Some of the changes resulting in a 7 hour layover for a 35 minute flight.

Now, I am trying BA the sequel...and I want to book a multi-destination flight through Aerolineas Argentinas. My flights start the first week in May. How soon would you recommend I buy? Are any times of the day a better bet than others to fly without big schedule changes? I am also NOT booking through an internet agency like Expedia, but straight through the airline. Expedia was no help to my friends in Argentina and the airlines could not help them because they were booked through Expedia.

Just thought I'd pass on that I booked my travel with Aerolineas Argentinas. And, since it was a multi-destination ticket including an international destination (Montevideo), my checked baggage can be 20K on all flights, instead of the 15K allowance on the domestic leg.
