Lounges in Lima not for American Air passengers?

I have business tickets to Lima on American Airlines. Is it true that we will not be able to access the lounges in the Lima Airport? I'm surprised since we have travelled all over the world and have never NOT had access to the lounges. However, we have never travelled on American. Maybe we won't anymore!

There's nothing automatic about access to the lounges based on status or class flown, but when you check in at the American counter in Lima for your flight home, ask for a pass to the Sumaq Lounge. They should give it to you if you're flying in biz. But you need a pass from the check-in counter. They won't let you in if you just show up at the lounge.

Thanks! When I called American, they said they didn't have any lounges there, but the person I talked to was not a very helpful kind of person, so I'm still not sure about it. I thought most major airlines had agreements in major airports to have use of lounges for business and first class passengers. We've found that just about everywhere we've travelled. So now I don't know where to go to get further info.

As we both mentioned above, it's the Sumaq Lounge. Ask for a pass when you check in with AA out in the terminal. That's the only way you'll get in. You won't be able to show up at the lounge and show your ticket and get in on that basis alone.

And if I have gotten my ticket via another airline's mileage program, will that be an issue? One of the agents I spoke with at AA said you could only go into the lounge if you paid for a ticket. Never have run into that.

I've never heard that, but if that's the rule, then that's the rule. You'll have to ask when you check in for your flight. It's all you can do.

If you can't get in, the airport has nice shops and restaurants to keep you occupied.
