lodging in villa la angostura
 

After reading about Bariloche, I'm leaning towards Villa La Angostura as our base for a week stay in the lake district next December. We will be traveling with our two adult sons. Do you have any suggestions for moderate housing? We'd prefer a one week rental over a hotel but are open. Thanks.

We stayed in Bariloche but if we return would stay in Villa la Angostura.

Why would you pick VLA over Bariloche for a return visit?

VlaA is on the other side of the lake, has magnificent views, is much more charming. Bariloche has some nice buildings interspersed with ugly concrete ones. A little touristy too. The LlaoLlao peninsula is very pretty. Brailoche is nfine but we found V la A to be more to our liking.

I agree with HappyTrvlr, I found Villa LaAgonstura so much more charming and scenic. I loved the area.

but understand that you may want a different type of accommodation. Mariana could easily accomodate 4 or you. I would also check into rentals in Villa LaAngosutra and Puerto Manzano, which is where Marianne's is located. It is a truly beautiful area.

I also far prefer Villa la Angostura. I would say you need a car to get around. The town itself is very small with most of what is worth seeing and doing in the surrounding area as are many of the nicest hotels and cabins.
You can take a boat ride out to the end of the Quetrihue peninsula and then the long walk back through the myrtle forest or return by a later boat. They rent bikes but I found you spent a lot of time pushing it because of rough terrain. You can also enter at the VlA end from Bahia Manso but this end is a bit steeper to go up.

Huentetu, Looking at that web site brought back such wonderful memories. It's truly a stunning area, and I loved it.
I would highly recommend this area.

We liked this area so much on our first trip to AR that we came back for a second time. First trip, we treated ourselves and stayed at the Llao Llao, took a day trip into Bariloche. Second time we stayed in VLA, which we really liked a lot, it's more rustic and countryish and only an hour or so from Bariloche.

You can't go wrong with any of the choices in this area!
