lima airport transport

arriving late at night at lima airport. are there safety issues with taxis etc as there are in some cities?

what are the options for transfer from the airport to our hotel in miraflores?

Get your hotel to pick you up.

Use one of the ground transportation in the baggage claim area (rather than those once you pass into arrivals). They charge more, but it's worth it.

Many hotels can send a driver to wait in arrivals, should be about $25 per car. I prefer this option

Or use Taxi Green which has a kiosk just past the doors from customs (inside the railing). Should be 45 soles.

The remise services are inside the terminal (at the desk with Budget) and are quite expensive.

Put your luggage inside the trunk and money and passport under your clothing.

Lock your taxi doors and keep the windows up.

Is crime in Calloa/Lima really that bad?

mlgb Mar 4th, 2014 11:49 AM

I know it has been a long time since you visited, dwdvagamundo.

There are occasional incidents of smash and grab when cars are stopped at lights on the way between the airport and Miraflores, etc.

Also there is some reporting that criminals target travelers with high value items at the airport, or possibly taxi drivers are involved.

So while rarely, it still happens, better safe than having your vacation ruined.

I would tell your hotel to send the driver that they regularly recommend. There are lots of incidents of petty theft from people just stepping out of taxis. The hotel's regular driver will have best access to the hotel and know the area better than any taxi driver.
