Late Night Layover in Lima? Anything to do?

Hello!
We are leaving for out Honeymoon to Peru early Tuesday morning (YAY! )
We are making our way to the Sacred Valley... but first we have an almost 7 hour layover in Lima.
We arrive at 11pm -- and leave at 5:45 am.
I know it's late.. but 7 hours in an airport doesn't sound like that much fun to me...
Sooo Fodorites... I'm wondering if there is anywhere we can go, that's safe, to kill a couple of hours and see something when it's late?
Restaurants? Nightlife?
I've heard downtown is a $15 cab ride .. but I don't know if anything will be open/happening on a Tuesday night/Wednesday morning??
I've also heard Miaflores is fairly close.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in adavnce

I would stay at the Ramada Hotel at the airport. It's a 2 minute walk from baggage claim. They start serving breakfest at 4am. The rooms are clean, basic, but comfortable.

It can take an hour to get thru customs and then more time to taxi into Miraflores. If you don't wish to pay $200 for a few hours at the airport hotel I'd just hang out inside the airport, it's 24/7 and has lots of eating and window shopping places inside. There are a few massage and spa places as well. The lounges are part of Priority Pass so I've never used them.

I recommend a gelato and espresso drink at 4D upstairs near the food court. Most of the restaurants are in the food court but there is at least one past security in the domestic side terminal.

I've hung out in Lima airport a few times, and it's actually pretty good. You won't actually be in the airport at 11 if that's your arrival time, and of course you have to be to your plane by 4AM or so. The food court is cozy, there's an internet cafe...lots of ways to spend a few hours! And you can even sleep in the hallway (but it's a bit chilly.)

Enjoy; Peru is amazing.

Thanks everyone for your responses and ideas.
I think we'll just hang out in the airport then.. have a snack and try to catch a few zzzz's.
One more sleep until we leave!!!

Larcomar in Miraflores has an impressive array of bars, restaurants and nightlife. Miraflores you can check out a bar on La Calle de Las Pizzas. Barranco has a lot of great nightclubs such as La Noche and Ayahuasca.

Happy travels,

mlgb - Does it really take an hour to get through customs at Lima? I have a lay-over there on the way to Easter Island, and not much time in between. Arrive 11:20 PM, leave at 1:20 AM. If I'm connecting, do I get out of customs outside of security like American airports? Wondering if I will have enough time now? Eek!

Around midnight it certainly can take an hour to get through customs and immigration.

But you will have to ask the airlines if you can stay in transit since you are going international to international. I don't know the answer and it may depend on how your ticket is booked (all on one airline?)
