last-minute Argentina planning questions
In addition to Buenos Aires, I will be visiting Bariloche, El Calafate, and Ushuaia. Do locals eat dinner late as they do in B.A.?
On safety I plan on taking the normal precautions. I usually have my guard higher in major urban areas than outside in the country. I am aware of the need to pay closer attention in some neighborhoods in the capital, but am unsure of the safety situation in the other areas I mentioned. Is it realistic to adopt a more relaxed posture outside of B.A.? I may have more questions as my trip draws near. Thank you. |
We never ate before 8 pm.
Right now we go for dinner and it is 8 30. Didnt go to barillche but to El Calafate. We didn't take any special precaution regarding safety. Basically the same as in Europe which means more relaxed than in the US. Yesterday we were in Salta and we started looking at restaurants at 7 something and ate at 8 plus. Mvg |
We have always found that whilst restaurants may open at 19.30-20.00 they were usually empty and devoid of any sort of atmosphere. We eventually got used to eating late, usually around 21.30 - 22.00.
Personally I never had any problems with safety anywhere in the country and never felt concerned in the slightest. |
Thank you Pariswat and Crellston.

I´d say you can have dinner at 8 or 8.30 PM all over Argentina, but you could well be the only customers.
Concerning safety, I would tend to be more relaxed than in BA. Have a great time in my country, tripplanner001. |
Thanks again Avrooster.
