Jardin or Guatape

hi, I am on my way to Colombia (literally!) and of course not enough time to do everything we want! We have 3 days (2 nights) in Medellin. Should we got to Guatapé or Jardin, or do both on 2 separate days?

Thank you!

We didn’t make it to Guatape, impressive I am sure but, rightly or wrongly we felt it may be a bit too busy and decided to spend more time in Jardin which we loved and which deserves a couple of days. Some photos and detail on our blog @ https://accidentalnomads.com/category/colombia/ the Jardin Post are halfway down the. The town itself is v. Pretty. There is a “cable car" you can take ( basically a box on wires!) and a nice hike to caves and waterfalls outside of town. Salento and the Cocora Valley is also worth considering.

Thank you
we cannot spend the night in Jardin, we have not one day before we fly to Santa Marta, so we are trying to decide if it is worth it for a day trip. We will be in Salento (very briefly!) later

As I recall it took 3-4 hours by bus each way. a bit too much for me but we did meet some people who did exactly that. They arrived on a very early bus, joined us and some other on a trip up to the caves and waterfalls and then took in the town before getting a late bus back to Medellin. Personally, I would avoid travelling ant night by bus in Colombia.
