You are right, just that flights for Nov are more expensive than flights in the next week or two so I was just wondering... Maybe Nov is a busier time?

Yes, Nov. is mid-spring and a great time to travel in Argentina, so it could be a matter of seasonal demand.

Hi, any more suggestions for the itinerary? See below:

So basically our flights into Rio on the 17th and out from BA on the 29th/30th are booked. No internal flights booked yet, I guess it's time to firm up the itinerary. This is what we have so far but it's totally flexible yet.

Nov 18th am - Arrive in Rio. 4 nights in Rio
Nov 22nd am - Fly to Iguazu - Brazilian side but planning to stay at the Grand Crucero, Argentina
Nov 23rd pm - IGR- Buenos Aires
Nov 24th - Buenos Aires
Nov 25th BA - El Calafate. 11am flt from AEP, reached El Calafate around 2pm)
Nov 28th pm - El Calafate - BA. Probably a 6.25pm flight from El Calafate
Nov 29th midnight - Kids leave
Nov 30th 9pm - We leave (So we have 1 day in BA on the way in and 2 on the way back).

Any changes recommended? Does Rio warrant 4 nights or should we add a night elsewhere?

Also, DS feels that we should continue to El Calafate on the 24th rather than stay a day in BA and then leave on the 25th but I feel having a day in between as a buffer is a good idea in case of any cancellations, flight delays etc. but that gives only a day on the way back in BA. Thoughts?

How long do you actually have at Iguazu?

BA didn't do much for me, the two days at the end would be enough.

To present the opposing viewpoint on BA, I love it -- been 3 times and would go back again. It's a huge, buzzy, busy city and you have to enjoy big cities and all that comes with them. Never been to Rio so can't compare it to BA.

Definitely would prefer a day buffer when it comes to flights - you never know.

Excited_confused---to answer one question from Mar. 16 about luggage storage......
The airport has luggage storage (guarda volumes). You have to pass by the airport on the way from the Brazilian park to the border crossing with Argentina.The Brazilian side park entrance has luggage lockers.

Thanks Sambachula, I had found out about the lockers at the park entrance but not about the airport, esp since you say we have to pass the airport on the way to Argentinian side, that is a good option too.

thursdaysd, we would arrive in on the Braziian side around 12.15pm and choices for the return flt from the Argentinian side are at 3.55pm or 9pm, other flights are much more expensive.

Trying to see if we should take a day from Rio and add it to some other place where we would miss out if we did not stay longer.

I like big cities...eg Lima. I live in LA.

So that isn't the issue.

I just don't enjoy the food (beef, empanadas and Italian) and shopping much. The sidewalks are busted up and poop covered. There isn't much of a setting (a brown river and flatlands) and while there is some nice architecture, there are also a LOT of really ugly mid-rise apartment buildings.

YMMV and that's okay.
