Is visiting Montevideo for a day worth the 150 USD ferry fare?

Hi, I've been in Buenos Aires for the past week and a half and have been enjoying the city as much as possible. I was thinking of visiting Montevideo via the Buquebus since I've never been there, I live in Mexico City and therefore I'm trying to get the most out of being so far away. Buquebus fares from Bs As are currently around 150 dollars and I would only be able to be in Montevideo for the day and then come back to Bs As at night.
The hotel receptionist told me Montevideo was not worth it but probably since he's from Buenos Aires the comment is not that objective.

Is Montevideo worth the 150 fare for one day?

Thanks, I appreciate your views and suggestions!
Steph.

I really like Montevideo, but it's the kind of place you have to savor and discover and get to know, and that's not going to happen in a day. I wouldn't bother if all you have is a day to spend there.

I agree with JCR - I really liked Montevideo and stayed there for 3 or 4 days but I wouldn't say it is worth $150 which does seem excessive. However, look an a random date on the buquebus site I could find fare of $178 Arg pesos each way (i.e. around $80 US) This still seems like a lot more than we paid in 2008 (Argentim=ne inflation at work I suppose!). I would however prefer Colonia if I only had a day - a lot to see and a lot closer.

Some photos of both places:

Thanks everybody for your comments. I guess Argentine inflation is a huge factor. I was here only 2 years ago and the public transport has gone up from 70 cents to 1.10 pesos.

It's $150 for the full fare (Bs As - Montevideo and back).
