Is the Seno Otway Penguin Reserve Currently Open?

Something Iread indicates that the Otway Sound Penguin Reserve is permanently closed because the penguins no longer inhabit there. Does anyone know, or has anyone been there recently? The only website that I found (www dot turisotway dot cl) says “Cerrado”, but I don’t know if that means permanently, temporarily, or seasonally. I would like to visit in late March. Thanks in advance!

I heard the same. End of March is when the pengies start to leave the colonies. If you have a car its possible to drive beside the Beagle Channel or if on a cruise you will sometimes see them in the channel or harbors in Ushuaia and Pto Madryn, AR. So if you are turning the car back in at Pta Arenas you could give it a shot.
