Is 8 days too much time in Buenos Aires

We've just got the opportunity to get what seems to me to be a very reasonably priced package for Buenos Aires (8 nights) & Iguazu Falls (3 nights).
The package gives us 2 half day tours, a day's trip to an estancia & a tango/dinner show one night.
In total we'd have 7 ful days in Buenos Aires. My husband felt this might be a bit too long. From my hasty reading it seems like that might be quite easy to spend that amount of time in BA.
We only got this deal yesterday & need to know by tomorrow so I haven't had the chance to do much research yet.
is this too much time in BA or will we have no trouble filling in the time?

Thanks for your thoughts.

I would have no trouble whatsover spending that amount of time in BA. We spent a month there in 2008 and are returning this year for a second helping!

There is plenty to do in the city itself. Alternatively, in addition to the trips already have, consider taking a ferry across the river to Uruguay and Colonia del Sacremento a very pretty colonial town. Alternatively the Tigre delta by train makes a nice day out.

I agree I'd enjoy eight days there too. However, I think it's a matter of preference some people like to move around and prefer to see new things all the time, lots of people would never opt for eight days in any one place but it gives you a slightly different perspective and lets you get to the secondary sites. BA is a big city and you'll find plenty to see if you're interested.

Completely agree with comments above. BA is like NYC or Paris in terms of how much there is to see and the various neighborhoods you can visit. it's quite easy to see the"major sites" in a few days, but to go beyond them takes many more days. You don't mention when you will be there, but in their summer, it is pretty hot so it's likely you will move at a more leisurely pace. BA is also a great sitting in cafes and watching the world go by kind of city if that appeals to you. We've been three times and each time we go we stay longer than the previous visit. I say grab the deal and have a great trip!

I agree with the above posts: you will be wishing you had a few more days to spend in BsAs. And, Crellston's suggestions for additional side--trip is insurance for you, just in case you feel like getting out of town beyond the tour to the estancia.

Your trip is largely a tour, so I think you will enjoy spending the rest of the time being independent visitors in this wonderful city.

I mostly agree with all the above, but you don't say what time of the year you are coming, which is a relevant factor.

Have a great time in my country.

We visited BA for the first time, for 10 days.

Not even close to enough time . You need as much time as you can get, 2 weeks might be ok.
Be careful though, we liked it so much, we moved there : )

A package is a good way to see a place for the first time. You can always go and visit and if you love it and wish you had had more time, you can always go back for a proper (long ) visit. :)

I would agree it's almost not enough! There is loads to do in Buenos Aires, I went for only a week and wished I had at least two!

I would highly recommend the free walking tour when you arrive to help get your bearings in the city. If you're there on a Sunday the market in street Defensa is a great place to find souvenirs. Also if you feel like splashing out on a fun theatre experience I absolutely loved the show Fuerza Bruta!

I will certainly be going back at some point to cover places I missed, you will have a great time I'm sure.

Thank you all so much for your replies.
As it has turned out the dates didn't quite work for us.
You've certainly all got me enthused so now I'll look for alternative dates.
We are looking around later September -early October which I think might be a good time to visit

It is a good time of year to visit.
