Huacachina, Peru

While we were planning our trip to Peru we debated heavily whether to visit Huacachina. We ended up going with "yes" and had a fantastic time!

The highlights? It's quite a photogenic location. The pictures and video you will get here are unique and epic. Some of the best photos I got in Peru were from this desert oasis. The main activities here consist of riding ATVs and sand boarding. Totally recommended.

The downs? Hotel options are scarce because of the size of this little oasis. Do your research about where you're staying. Not because of safety, but because of lack of air conditioning, lack of mosquito nets, lack of hot water, etc. This is one city where I wouldn't hesitate to spend a little more on accommodation.

All in all it was worth visiting. I'd advise spending a day there. It's probably long enough to come early daytime and leave in the evening. We stayed a night and it was fine too though.

Here's a quick little video on our experience in Huacachina: https://youtu.be/XkfF7OXq-ZA

Thanks, Travelbutt. I spent one nite in Huacachina many years ago while travelling up the coast. My main focus was Ica, but enjoyed the nite and seeing the dunes. The place I got around the lake was fine.
