I'm thinking of going to Brazil in september. I don know what I should budget my trip for, coz i know no one who has been there. I'm thinking of a 5 night vacation to any destination in Brazil, preferably a beach area. any suggestions on the destination in brazil?

I know its kinda hard, sorry guys but your help will be greatly appreciated

Have just been to Brazil for a wedding in Sao Paulo grt place. If you like shopping it is also fabulous but nothing is that cheap whether your eating out or bars but loved the place i had five days in Sao Paulo then went to an island called Ilabella for three days had arranged a mini bus to take about 10 of the wedding guests from Australia. Next stop was Paraty grt little old town then on to Rio which i loved stayed at one of the beach hotels which i booked from booking.com was really cheap and good value but the round trip i spent about $7000 but all hotels i booked the same way and saved a lot of money.(ps i do like shopping that cost me a fair amount). Go great place will return for a longer stay

We are in Brazil now - it's not a cheap destination but you can find value I think.

We spent 5 nights in Pipa, a beach town near Natal on the north east coast. It was fantastic! Our accommodation was $120US/night for a 1 bedroom apartment in a pousada about a 10 minute (safe) walk from town. We had several excellent meals (for almost North American prices) but there were less expensive options - and the beer is cold and cheap!

Brazil is wonderful - it is such a cliche to say but the people are just lovely.

Hard to say, if you don't yet have an itinerary. Rio (and Sao Paulo) is a lot more expensive than many other popular destinations in Brazil (beach towns and other cities) right now, probably $200+ per night for mid-range, plus more expensive restaurants, plus substantial entry fees to the must-see heights (Corcovado/Christ and Sugarloaf). As noted above, a beach town in the northeast should be less expensive. However, the Real is still strong in comparison to the Dollar and Euro, so prices are higher now than in times past. As far as beaches, Brazil has an annual guide that reviews over 2000 of them, from south to north, so a preliminary look at a guidebook wouldn't hurt, to see what appeals to you. In September, probably stick to Rio and north, because the southern beaches (and Rio too) might still be too cool to swim.
