Hotel recommendations
Hi
My daughter and I are looking at going on an cruise to Antarctica next year. We hope to combine this with visiting some other South American locations. We are in the early stages of planning and are just starting to work our way through trip reports. We are looking for hotel recommendations for:
Santiago
Cusco / Aguas Calientes ( looking at catching train/bus not waliking Inca trail )
Rio de janiro
Iguasu Falls ( is it better to stay on one side than the other ie Brazilian vs Argentinian for accommodation)
Ushuaia
Would like to keep costs under $150 US but can pay more if necessary. Looking for elevators, airconditioning and in larger cities 24 hour reception
Thanks
Liz and Kate

Among these destinations, I can recommend Iguazu Jungle Lodge on the Argentina side of the falls. The room was spacious and comfortable, and overlooked the Iguazu River.
And separately (I know this is unsolicited) the distances among the different places you mentioned are great and will either require flying from one point to another or a lot of time. Think about what you most want to see and accomplish and plan on coming back for more.

Thanks tripplanner.
At this point this is on our wish list and we have yet to work out whether it is possible or what to leave out. We will have around 4 weeks. Planes will certainly be needed. Coming from Australia, our gateway city to South America is Santiago on the west coast but we need to fly to Ushuaia ( most likely via Buenes Aires) to pick up our cruise.

If you are flying into Santiago, perhaps look at staying a few nights in the area and then making your way down the length of the country. You could visit the Lake District and then take a few days to visit Torres del Paine. From there you could cross the border to Argentina and visit Perito Moreno Glacier before going to Ushuaia for your cruise. After your cruise, you could fly to Buenos Aires and depending on time, go up to Iguazu Falls and from there to Rio de Janeiro. This will keep you very busy and I am not suggesting that you do all of it, but hope this is helpful as you think about what you want to do and not do.
