Hospital Care in Cusco

My brother has just been admitted to Clinic Dr Victor Parades with Pneumonia and blood poisoning. They are also doing tests to rule out meningitis as he is having balance problems. As you can imagine I am very worried about him as he is travelling alone. Does anyone know the clinic where he is and whether he is in safe hands?

Have you been in touch with your embassy? They can keep an eye on things for you. If you are a US citizen, it appears the consular office in Cusco is temporarily closed but a telephone number if given for emergency situations on the website:
http://lima.usembassy.gov/warden/messages.html

In the event of a life or death emergency, please call (51-1) 618-2000. An Embassy duty officer is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

There are two local Cusco guides who speak excellent English - if you are having communication issues and can't get help from the Embassy perhaps you could hire one of them to help you communicate with the clinic? The guides are:

Percy Salas
David Choque

I'm trying to find phone numbers for them here....will repost.

Thanks for the website and the info. I am actually in Australia but have looked up the Australian embassy information.

That particular clinic has English speaking doctors available.

Also usually if you email in English eventually you will get an English language reply.

However Sundays in Peru there maybe no one reading emails, so I would call if you need a response. Just ask "do you speak English?" when someone answers.
