Help needed on Peru Machu Picchu Tour Operator

Hi, I am intended to hike the classic Inca Trail and would like to use a local tour operator. After looking around, I found
www.peruforless.com
www.adventureholidaysperu.com
www.pmexplorers.com

Their price looks the same. They all look local. I am looking for local operator and have the right service attitude and not passing the customer from one guide to the other or another agency.

All your helps are appreciated. Thanks.

We didn't do the Inca Trail, but did use Vidal's services (Adventure Holidays Peru, now Adios Travel) for our two week trip last April. We had a really great time with him. (In fact, just saw him at the Washington DC Adventures in Travel Expo about 2 weeks ago.) If you do a search on his name here (and on Trip Advisor) you'll find reviews from others who did go on the Inca Trail with him.

My trip blog is here: http://2totravelperu.blogspot.com/

Hi, well we did Inca trail last year, I made my arrangements through of a local tour operator called Apu Kuntur Peru, they were really nice with us, very helpful and also their prices were really Ok, only Inca trail cost me about $300,mmmm perhaps you can ask them a quote, and maybe they'll help you with you doubts, you can write an email at [email protected],well I hope you have a wonderful trip.

Thanks guys!

I wanted to go with www.pmexplorers.com, but ended up with www.peruforless.com because they are the only one still can get the permit and have a group at the date I wanted.

I was very disappointed with www.pmexplorers.com, they responded slowly, then they told me they miss what I want, then drag until no permit for the date and then tell me to go with whichever operator I can get the permit.

qwovadis, thanks.
www.andeantravelweb.com is very helpful and great info lists the approved locals like you said.
www.perutreks.com is good but offers permit from Jul onward. I have to leave South America end of June.

I am doing the Inca Trail in April 2010. I am booked with SAS Travel in Cuzco. So far they have been very professional in the booking process.

I hiked the IncaTrail with llamapath and had a great time; the camaraderie among the porters was infectious and I loved them always being together and they seemed to be happier than other groups we saw. After taking to other groups, we thought we had the best group overall.

We have made several trips to Peru, did some trekking and just touring. The best guide we have found is Renato at http://www.cusco-native.com/. His tours are tailored to what you want, not just a standard itinerary.

Hi,

My friends went last September with Highland Adventures (www.machupicchu.com) They had a fabulous time. My husband and I are thinking to go this July. Does anyone else have experience with Highland Adventures? We've heard that July can be crowded? Is that true?

Thanks!
