Guayaquil -

I have a layover in Guayaquil for abut 8 hours. Can anyone give me tips on what I can do in this short amount of time? What to see and where to eat? Thanks.

Hey TinyBeachBum,
Guayaquil is a huge city but unlike Quito it is not very touristy. You should take a cab from the airport to Malecon. It's a nice tourist walk that they have built on the waterfront and is right in downtown Guayaquil. There are tons of restaurants there and plenty to see for your 8 hours. Also while your there you should see Bolivar Park/Iguana park (map http://goo.gl/maps/wf8sH) & City hall.

If haning out in the city isn't your style. You can also kill a good 1/2 day or more in Parque Historico. Which has a tons of local flora & fauna to see. It's definatly worth a trip out there.
Best,
Greg

In Guayaquil, if you are on the Malecon, don't miss Cerro Santa Ana and the Las Peñas neighborhood. Las Peñas is where the local bohemian set has their houses and art spaces. There are 444 steps and a maze of streets that take you from the base of the Malecon to the top of the hill for great views of the city and the Guayas River. There are plenty of cafes, galleries, small lookout points to break up the trip to the top.

Happy travels!

I am also going to have an 8 hour layover. Can I ask what you did with your luggage?
