Pantanal Lodges

Dear fellow traveler,
What lodge (comfortable, authentic, reasonably priced) could you recommend for a successful 2 full days stay in October?
My wife & I will be landing in Campo Grande around noon.

Our points of interest:
* Nature, scenery
* Wildlife (unusual to Europeans) like jaguar, anteaters etc.
* Birds

There are a number of agencies in Campo Grande who provide packages including transport to the fazenda, lodging with meals, and tours. It will take several hours to get in to your lodging after you choose a tour agency. The trip back out will take another day, to your next destination. Suggest you lengthen your actual stay by at least a day for all that travel time and effort.
You are not likely to see jaguars in the southern Pantanal. "Reasonably priced" is what in reais? Pantanal trips are not cheap.
If you want to see jaguar, go to the northern Pantanal, flying into Cuiaba, and expect to pay much more.

Thank you SambaChula for your reply.
For several reasons, I finally resorted to Bonito.

Would you or anyone else have any tour operator to recommend for local circuits? We are particularly interested in wildlife, nature, and unusual sights (animals, scenery, natural spots, birds).

Thks again for taking the time to share your views.

Bonito "tour" operators are all locals. Ask on arrival at your lodging.
You won't see much wildlife in Bonito. It is a destination for water activities, such as snorkeling or floating or diving.

For TGBXB
Not sure how this works but wanted some suggestions for 2 weeks EARLY September-anywhere- Very keen Photographers-were thinking of Vietnam but weather seems a bit difficult. Have been to Bali and Lombok, Thailand, Europe, lots of the States, Dom Rep, Sri lanka, Panama, Costa Rica and looking for our next adventure. We are in our late 50s but love adventure.
If this is not the correct way to do this TGBXB can you advise?
Thanks
Paula

Sorry, but why would you be asking someone who's never been to Brazil instead of people who have a lot of experience there?
