Good Article on NW Arg in NYT

This article brought back wonderful memories of our trip to the NW Argentina a couple years ago...a truly beautiful area.
Angie/Flintstones, you'll enjoy reading about your favorite part of Argentina.

Thank you, yestravel.

I loved this article too - and sent it on to our NOA travel companions.

Ah that Purmamarca !

Too bad they left out so many nice places to stay and eat.

Great! Thank you, yestravel!

Angie will be plenty busy! LOL!!!

flintstones Aug 8th, 2010 09:16 AM

Thank you for the link!
Marmie, Purmamarca is also one of my favorite places!
AVrooster I am already very busy posting in several forums. NW in Argentina is still unknown for many people and I am trying to make it known since 2006.
Thanks, I love the article!

I'm sure you are "very busy posting in several forums", Flintstones/Angie/Giena.

Just be sure to avoid arguing with the other children, will you?

Remember today we celebrate "El Día del Niño". LOL!!!

Have a great time in our country.

Oh well, the secret is out . . . .

Yes, it was a good article, interesting. It certainly will bring the region to the attention of many people who simply are unaware of it.

wanttogo Aug 26th, 2010 07:21 AM

What is the best time of year to visit this region of Argentina? Specifically, May is the month that we usually travel, but I know that that is cold in some parts of Argentina. How about the Jujuy/Salta areas?

Pat

avrooster Aug 26th, 2010 08:06 AM

We'll have to wait for Flintstones (our NW expert) to answer that, but May may not the best time to go there, not because it's cold, which is not the case, but it might be the rainy season, which could complicate travel. I'm not sure about this, so we'll have to wait for Angie's (Flintstones' name in real life) final word.

yestravel Aug 26th, 2010 09:12 AM

Certainly not the expert Angie is, but I was told the rainy season is more like Dec - April. We went in Nov. and were a bit concered in case the rainy season came early and roads got washed out. We were fine and it was unusally hot.

flintstones Aug 27th, 2010 03:05 AM

Hi, everybody..
This ia more or less the *weather schedule* for the whole area.
JAN -FEB -MARCH up to EASTERN it rains but the rains are like a half an hour shower! Might be some rains in Nov or December but very rarely..
After Eastern the dry season starts and the temperatures go from
68 / 86 degrees farenheit. nights maybe 59 degrees.. so you will need a coat or jacket for the night. June has more colder days and nights but not freezing. We had a really cold July this year, but rememeber it is dry here so you will not fel it as in NY or BA... the days are sunny most of them.
August is sunny and woming up... until Novmeber, but we never know, we migjt have some snow even in September but believe me, you will be ok... not freezing like in Antartica.
What to bring... sun lotion, sun glasses, t-dhirts, dress like an onion, with light layers. You will be ok. Have always a fleece at hand.
Hey, AVRooster, I got it!!! I already got Fodors Golden Edition!!!
Flintstones

avrooster Aug 27th, 2010 09:05 AM

Angie means "Easter", for us "La Pascua".

So, Angie, you got the "Fodors Golden Edition", but I didn't.

I'll seriously consider going on strike or maybe even picketing this forum. LOL!!!!

Have a great time in our country.

flintstones Aug 27th, 2010 11:28 AM

Yes, man you are always right. I meant Ester (sorry for the mistake)well, there are Pascuas in Easter... aren't there? Lol
