What type of clothing should my wife and I bring (mid March)?

I have been on three ships. Twice cruising on 16-passenger vessels, once for dinner on a National Geographic/Lindblad ship (I don't recall which one.) I didn't see anyone dressed up for dinner on the NG ship, and the two that I cruised on were very casual.

In March it will be HOT! (It's already hot.) You'll want several swimsuits unless you don't want to put on a wet one. Some locations have bees that are drawn to bright colors, so be sure to have some muted colored shirts as well. Sturdy shoes for walking on lava, and water shoes for the wet landings. A hat is essential...the equatorial sun is fierce.

Thanks. We are traveling on a Tauck tour and using their ship the Isabela II. Going with them to Machu Picchu prior to our Galapagos adventure. Can't wait!

Light weight clothing with good sun protection for when you are hiking. If you will be snorkeling a 'rash guard' top as well as some nylon pants or swim leggings to cover the backs of your legs. I also wore socks which helps with sunburn as well as chafing if you are using their fins. Many of the ships have clothing lines where you can hang things up to dry overnight. I think I just had the one bathing suit. Our ship did not want you to wear your walking shoes on board, socks or bare feet only. I brought a lightweight sleeveless long linen dress for dinner and hanging around on board. I think it's also a good idea to pack a collapsible hiking pole. Even if you don't use it you can offer it to someone else who may think they didn't need one, but turns out they do. Also a dry sack for any electronics you bring on excursions. Sea to Summit is a good range. Refillable water bottles. Water is scarce on the Galapagos and you basically have to buy it. I didn't carry enough with me one afternoon when I walked to Tortuga Bay.

And yes there are bees and wasps on Santa Cruz at least..I got stung but luckily had Benadryl tablets with me.

I am not familiar with March weather but having a lightweight cheap plastic poncho is a good idea, something you can just keep in your pack that doesn't take up much space.
