Galapagos

Visiting Galapagos aboard the Cormorant in April.
Wondering if anyone has traveled aboard this catamaran and what they thought of their experience.
Thanks

Have not been on the Cormorant but I would imagine that the daily routine would be similar regardless what boat or what type of boat you are in.

Expect to have daily 6:30 am wake up call, have breakfast and off the boat by zodiac between 8 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.

Below is a link to my trip report post for the Galapagos at the Fodor cruise forum. The Cormorant is much smaller and less "luxurious" but there would be information there that you may find helpful regarding Galapagos in general.

I have also posted pictures here for the Galapagos. The link is below.

ecoventura.com my fav lst booked galavengalapgos.com on a 2 for 1 special for $600 with guanguiltagua.com [email protected]. Seen a few negatives on the boards
on yours over the years as long as you are not too picky and
are not paying a bunch to a galapgos cruise scammer odds are
great you will be fine. Many pay thousands more than they have to particularly over on TripAdvertize where agentsare allowed to "troll' as "experts" to scam clueless newbies.Truly despicable but true.

So Caveat Emptor!

http://www.southernexplorations.com/.../Cormorant.htm
complaints were related to dirty dodgy small rooms hard beds have a look here and guides that were not up to snuff.some roach issues not unusual if kitchen is not cleaned well.
But as long as you are not picky and know this is a lower class vessel not a luxury vessel and are getting a good deal
odds are great you will be fine.if not shop around a bit more
smartours.com has the best fly cruise packages I have seen from the US on sale recently BBB.org A rated.

Good luck!

Absolutely not true!! This poster has no evidence whatsoever, just a bone to pick. He used to post heavily himself on trip adviser.

The Cormorant is the newest luxury catamaran sailing in the Galapagos. It's maiden voyage was May of 2011. All staterooms (suites) have private balconies. Many rooms also have a steam showers in the bathroom. The guides are top notch. The food is also very good. We have sent 6 passengers on this ship and all have had glowing reviews. If you want to see more information on the ship you can go to:

Most importantly...HAVE FUN! Enjoy your trip!!!!

I had the pleasure of traveling on The Cormorant in November. What a remarkable experience! The accommodations were first class!. The food was scrumptious. Our crew was kind and polite and friendly. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable. There were 16 travelers on our trip and I can assure you that each and everyone of us was 100% happy with our time aboard The Comorant. I booked my entire tour through my neighbor's company, Green Turtle Travel. They made sure we had the best from our time in Quito to our travels through The Galapagos. I promise that you will be happy with your time aboard this catamaran!

Ohhh...and just to be clear, there was an older Cormorant, but the one sailing now is a luxury catamaran. The previous posts must have been looking at the old ship.

Thank you so very much for your replies. You have all been so helpful!
(Except Qwovadis-who always seems so negative).

Again, thank you so very much!

Obviously, there are 2 catamaras with the same name. Do you know which one you are booked into? Unless the other one deosn't sail any more .. you should find out. The new Comorant is dubbed "Comorant II" by some people.

Both Greenturtletravel and Kate_Singleton activated their Fodor accounts on Jan 2012, and each only had posted on this thread only and nothing else. So, it was obvious that they are here to defend the reputation.

We just came back from the Galapagos in November on board the Galapagos Explorer II. Great experience. Knew may people who had been through Galapagos on differfent ships and I have yet heard anything negative. The worst I have heard is that some smaller boats with fewer passengers offered less choices in food selection, not quality. (Exception: private charter)Ultimately, you get what you paid for.

Feel free to look through my trip report posted at Fodor crusie forum and ask any quetsions.

I am a native Galapagena. I have no agenda, but to promote my beautiful home. I personally know the guide and the capitain on the Cormorant. I was not 'defending' the Cormorant, just stating the facts.

Kate_Singleton Jan 28th, 2012 07:04 PM

Indeed, I am new to posting on Foor's but what does that have to do with anything, I was on that boat and had first hand experience to share. I had a fantastic trip and would recommend to anyone. I traveled with my mother and both of us had the trip of a lifetime.

Every meal had options, even the vegetarians on the trip were happy with the selection.

Any questions, feel free to ask...Kate

Sorry I have to agree with Qwo on the warning re some DEs on Tripadvisor particularly in Latin America, who own tourist businesses such as hotels, and try to steer posters to their friends or even their own companies. In fact there may be some such posters complaining here?

Best to do thorough research with a degree of skepticism.
