Fine tuning travels to Peru

My husband & I will be spending 2 wks next May in Peru. Airfare seems outrageous so far but I'm hoping that changes. From Florida-Lima it's running around $1000rt. I was hoping LAN comes up with a good far so I can book the Airpass which seems much more reasonable. I've narrowed down these choices so any feedback will be appreciated. I'm trying to keep our lodging to around $100nt since we'll be there 2 wks but do want comfy beds & clean, safe place. Lima (if we have to spend night) Antigua Miraflores or Radisson Hotel Decapolis Miraflores (first night & last night stay)
.Olly-El Alberque or Pakaritampu,
Aguas Caliente-Sanctuario or Hotel Inti Punku
Puerto Maldonado-3 nts in jungle
Puno- Hotel Royal
Amantani Island-homestay
Percy will be our guide for the SV.
Someone mentioned we should do the jungle before SV. Always appreciate my Fodor buddies for travels. Quovadis, can't book Spirit rt at this point but they were $188 +taxes for one way from FLL.

Of your selections, I stayed in Pakaritampu, Raddisson Decapolis, and Rumi punku. Very happy with them all, although Rumi Punku really messed up our pickup.

Hi IS

Spirit.com FLL LIM always cheapest for me 5 hours

Pack light though they charge even for overheads so

I do not have to pay for onebag.com I slide under front seat

Get their CC and miles for "big front seat" upgrades

an awesome ride for me for price($239 RT last) but others

lan.com does have sales they are good outside peru

taca.com copaair.com also AA.com u can get their AAdvantage

Citi cards 40000 FF miles each and fly for cheap free

My wife and I just did this you have time for FF miles flight.

cheapoair.com kayak.com/buzz best sites for fares

always seem to find Tues 2nd to 3rd week of Jan best.

apulodge.com my fav in Olly too noisy crowded around

train station... Presidente balcony riverview my fav

in AC.... peru-explorer.com rumipunku.com is nice but

for $100 prefer Casa-andina.com clsssic Plaza

less of a hostel more of a hotel feel for me.

in mirafloresperu.com Radisson is great Sonesta

Posada del Inka sometimes similar high sea views cheaper

from $89 on Priceline.com for me some times.

Lastly better wildlife far cheaper less hassle

to just do Manu from Cusco manuadventures.com inkanatura.com

you will save a lot and connect better airwise.

Lan is fine for international they do have a rip off

$178.50 surcharge for non-residents on local flights

I would not pay that... Personally Taca StarPeru or Peruvian

are the only internals I fly.

perubesttours.com Mike can save folks some on packages over

independent booking might also give him a shot to save.

Happy Planning!

Qwovadis, thanks for all the info. I'll check your suggestions out. Great tip on AA for FF miles. We have enough FF on Southwest Airlines from Boise to Ft Lauderdale so really hoping to fly out of there instead of MIA. Once I can find reasonable flights I will get it all booked. We'll be staying a wk in FLL before heading to Peru. Spirit won't book out that far yet. Appreciate your feedback too Lcuy. Lots of good info.

In Lima, you might also consider the following hotels in Miraflores with your budget:

Casa Andina Private Collection Miraflores
Second Home Peru
Ducado Hotel
QP Hotel Miraflores
Leon de Oro Inn & Suites
Mariel Hotel

Have a great trip!
