I just remembered a couple of places we used when staying the Yanahuara district of Arequipa. a taxi ride from the Plaza de Armas - Picanteria La Palomino and La Nuevo Palomino. Close together, both are really good for traditional home style, Peruvian food, the latter being a little more upmarket. We ate lunch there a few times great food and huge portions. you should find them on TripAdvisor.

I did not like La Nuevo Palomino. If you are traveling with a larger group, it may work for some family-style dining, huge servings of chicharron, etc. seemed the specialty. Don't bother order the Chupe de Camarones there.

Honestly I wouldn't go to Yanahuara if your time is limited and you aren't staying there. There are more interesting places in Arequipa.

Bon voyage! If your trip is even half as wonderful as I thought mine, it will be filled with memorable moments.
