Favorite Sacred Valley Sites?
We're hiring a driver for a day tour of Peru's Sacred Valley, and I'm finding that I have about 4 days worth of things I'd like to see. So, I ask you, wise fodorites, what would be your ideal day in the Sacred Valley? What were the top 5 or so experiences you had there? (Not including MP or Cusco, which we will be visiting on other days.)

Pisac, Chinchero, and Ollantaytambo top my list. Be sure to go on market day for the first two. The Pisac market is more impressive but the second is more fun, IMO.

I agree with the above. I would also add the walk from Tambo Machay to Cusco via Q'enko, Puka Pukara and Sacsayhuaman. Takes around three hous and could be combined with a morning visit to Pisac entry 19 on our blog has some photos http://www.travelpod.com/travel-blog...ai/6/tpod.html
On our first visit to the SV years ago we hired a taxi to visit Pisac, Urumbamba, Chinchero, Moray and Maras which was an enjoyable, but very long, day. |
Agree with Crellston on the walk. Get your driver to drop you.

Thanks!

Highlight was Salinas Salt Pans and Moray agricultural terraces - quite unique and well preserved ruins. Also really enjoyed Ollantaytambo's ruins
