Faena Hotel is in Puerto Madero, the former port of BA which has now been redeveloped. The neighborhood is a mix of new condos, hotels, and office towers, with tons of trendy restaurants, cafes, and nightclubs (Faena has a hip bar, lounge, restaurant as well).

Puerto Madero is populated at all hours - office workers and students from the nearby university in the day, replaced by tourists and people going to dinner in the evening, and then club-goers late at night. The hotel is close to green spaces where locals hang out on the weekends and the Reserva Ecologica, where you can take a walk or jog if you're up to it. The bridges (diques) are very photogenic at night.

The only potential drawback: if you're on foot during your stay, walking in and out of Puerto Madero requires crossing Av. Alem to get to the attractions of the financial district. Easy enough during the day, but some would say these parts are not the safest in the evening.

Happy travel planning!

Oh yeah, Puerto Madero is really fun. It's a very swanky area that is fun to explore. I'd recommend it. And while I've not personally stayed in the Faena Hotel, I've read that it's great. http://www.easyvoyage.co.uk/travel-d...e-buenos-aires You should check it out if you've got the chance!

Puerto Madero is a great place to spend the day. Other than that, it gets a bit boring, you have to go through quite a lot of traffic and construction mess to visit the other neighborhoods.
That said, the Faena is a spectacular hotel .. there is a great Tango show there for you to see.
But if I were asked, I would tell you to go to a nice beautiful hotel in Recoleta.
