EZE or AEP on LAN or AR to BRC & FTE?
We are headed for a return trip to Patagonia in December and this time we are adding a few days in San Martin de los Andes for fly fishing before we head down to El Chalten. I have read all the horror stories about Aerolineas Argentinas but also know they have a new CEO. I can save $200 per ticket ($600 total) if we fly AR from BsAs to Bariloche. They have many flights both out of AEP and EZE. I'm thinking it might be worth it to save that. We would also fly them from BRC to FTE so we don't have to travel back to BsAs. We will fly LAN from FTE to AEP. So my questions are these:
Are we being totally foolish to use them?
Is it a safer bet to fly out of AEP or EZE on them (Meaning is one airport less likely to end up in a delay)?
There is only one flight a day from BRC to FTE-anyone know if this has seen many delays/cancellations?
Thank you-we can't wait for our return trip!

Odie1:
I very much appreciate your "hoping". LOL!!!
I didn't answer that part of your question simply because I don't know.
The local flights which leave from EZE are clearly intended for foreigners who wish to connect right away to another part of our country.
I don't think "one airport is less likely to end up in a delay". I believe it's a matter of luck (or lack of it, LOL), but, frankly, I do not know.
If I were a tourist staying in BA, I would choose the local airport, simply because it is closer.
Stop worrying, odie1, you'll have a great time in my country.

Av- I know we will have a great time in your country because we already did hence why we are returning!
Thanks for the tip on flying from AEP. We will be spending one night in BsAs before flying south so since flying out of AEP will be more convenient that's what we will do!
Now if only I could get rental cars figured out so easily...LOL

Odie1: renting a car in Argentina is, as you apparently know, not as cheap and simple as in, for instance, the US.
I have never had a problem, but I'm extremely careful about who I rent from.
If you wish to discuss the subject further, e-mail me to albertovgalloATyahoo.com
