Thanks for posting YT. Huge deal! When we were there, the deal had just been agreed and the farmers in the south of the country were protesting the deal by blockading a few highways and holding rallies in the town plazas. Apparently, the deal involves them losing some of the subsidies they were getting as the cash would now go to the ”former" FARC rebels, thus moving them down the pecking order for state handouts.

Some Colombians seemed very hopeful, some voiced great concern. All were very proud of the progress the country has made in recent years in controlling and eradicating the narco trade.

I'm very skeptical. Problem is, as I understand the deal, none of the narcotrafficantes, kidnappers and extortionists who have masqueraded as leftist rebels over several decades is going to serve any jail time for their activities and will in fact be free to run for political office.

Hope it works out, as the people of Colombia deserve peace.
