Hotels in BA - Honeymoon

Hello! I was wondering whether anyone could provide me names of hotels that they'd recommend in BA. We're going to be staying in BA for at least five nights and it'll be for our honeymoon. We don't want to spend over 150 USD night (we may be willing to go a wee bit over that but our goal is to get something cheaper). Any recommendations? Looking for something clean, in a nice area.

Thank you in advance.

Wow, great list Scarlett! I'm hoping to fit in a stop-over in BA very soon so this is incredibly helpful.

In terms of neighbourhoods, guidebooks seem to consistently recommend Recoleta and Palermo. In terms of getting around, access to public transport, restaurants etc, are they both equally well placed?

I live in Recoleta, so I am a tiny bit biased, but they are both excellent residential neighborhoods with museums and parks and plenty of cafes and shops.
I only take taxis and walk, I never have a problem getting around here..
Glad you like my list ..
The other list is only posh hotels that charge around $3-400 a night :- )

Thank you all for your fabulous help (I love this site).

I contacted the above noted hotels - some are available - most are booked (or have different rooms available on different days). I realize we've cut it short (are travelling during the christmas break).

Anyone have any thoughts on Ayres de Recoleta Plaza?

As an alternative, I'm exploring the apartment option. I've been looking in the recoleta area (based on your most recent post, scarlett!). Does anyone have any thoughts about apartments in the following locations:
(a) Pacheco de Melo St. bet. Uriburu St. & Junin St
(b) Juncal St. & Talcahuano St.
(c) Rodriguez Peña St. & Juncal St.
(d) Arenales St. bet. Uriburu and Junin
(e) Libertador Av. bet. Ayacucho St. & Callao Ave.
(f) Callao Ave. bet. Las Heras Ave. & Pacheco de Melo St
(g) Ayacucho St. bet. Alvear Ave. & Posadas St.

Thanks again

I watched the Ayres de Recoleta Plaza being built .. it is on the end of Guido before it hits the cemetery and there are at least 3-4 nightclubs and a couple of strip clubs there now.
It is a very pretty place from the outside, lobby is nice but I would not want to stay on that block ..

OK.. before I even begin, this is all a matter of opinion, these are mine, others will have different opinions and that is just fine. Nothing to get all excited about ..

Melo bet. Uriburu & Junin is busy, there are buses on Uriburu but I don't know which bldg .. it might be fine.

(c) Rodriguez Peña St. & Juncal St.

Good area .. markets, parks and close to everything in Recolata, easy to get around ..check on location of apt, frente/contra frente ..

(d) Arenales St. bet. Uriburu and Junin

Residential, lots of cafes, shops and a Disco supermarket.. not a bad area at all.

(e) Libertador Av. bet. Ayacucho St. & Callao Ave.

Could be very noisy .. huge street, in that area, very busy all the time..

(f) Callao Ave. bet. Las Heras Ave. & Pacheco de Melo St

Excellent area ...

(g) Ayacucho St. bet. Alvear Ave. & Posadas St

Excellent .. and you could run into the Alvear Hotel whenever you felt like it and have one of their Bloody Mary's lol ...

I walked by the Ayres de Recoleta Plaza today- there are 3 strip clubs .. a few doors down from the hotel.. across the street is Lola and the walkway past all the restaurants , at the end is Cafe Biela. There is the hotel Etoile there too with a good pharmacy.
Next door is a locutorio, Havana and Freddo .. (what more can you ask for?)

Around the corner is the really noisy on weekends night club called Safari.

I have no idea how noisy it is inside the hotel but the possibilities are there. When I asked my husband if he would want to stay there on a vacation, he said Never :- )

Scarlett, you're WONDERFUL! Thank you for the advice.

I think that I'mgoing to go with option f! now i have to figure out what i'm going to do with the rest of my time in argentina (an additional 2 weeks outside of BA)! I'll canvass opinions after doing some research into it first.

lol, you are welcome. It is just blocks from my home so not such a big deal for me to walk by
: - )
Look at the ArtSuites hotel .. located in the middle of a quiet residential block, just a short walk from the Recoleta Cemetery etc.
