Essequibo (Guyana) travel report

Hi,

I recently spent one week exploring the remote Essequibo region of Guyana. I've written a travel report which includes lots of photos, sight-seeing, transportation, eating out and accommodation tips. Maybe this will prove useful to someone in the planning stages of a trip.

You can view the report here:

Very interesting and colorful trip report about a place that is way off the tourist path (but particularly interesting to me, who worked with a guy who grew up there). Thanks, Darren!

US readers may also be interested in reading some of the history of Guyana, whose very politically active first lady was the American Janet Rosenberg Jagan, wife of Cheddi Jagan. I find his time in and out of office to be a fascinating chapter in SA history.

Quite a few of the photos did not appear however, but those that did are wonderful.

(and just a detail FYI, in Brazil, in Portuguese, the toasted cassava flour seasoning, which Brazilians sprinkle onto every meal, is called FAROFA)
