Ecuador Rain Forest with Pre-teens
We are staying in Ecuador for several days after Galapagos trip. Wanted input on going to the rain forest with 12 year olds. It looks great to me, but wanted to make sure it would be active or exciting enough for them after Galapagos. Considering the Sacha Lodge. Appreciate any input or recommendations on other areas.

Sacha lodge is great, and I think kids would love it. Piranha fishing, traveling in dugout canoes, seeing animals they've heard about but probably haven't seen before; it would feel like such an adventure for them. If you can, I suggest going to the jungle first, because it is better in some ways to go to a place where it is hard to see wildlife (the amazon) before a place where it is incredibly easy to see wildlife, like the Galapagos. But either way, I think they’d love it.

I haven't been to Sacha (but to a similar lodge in the Peruvian Amazon). It is popular with families.
Aren't 12 year olds able to visit their website and decide if it looks interesting to them? I should think they would become more invested in the trip that way. |
I have been to a few rainforest areas around the world (but not in ecuador) . Some cater to children better than others e.g. Making stuff from the forest, interacting with the indi heinous people etc. However, it is probably best to manage expectations as wildlife is hard to spot contrary to what Amy people assume.
That said, I am sure most 12 year olds would be thrilled at the prospect of going into the jungle! I know I would have been at that age - and still am |
Thank you for your responses. I'll talk to Lodge to try to cater a bit to their age. But we're going for it! Thanks again.
