Driving in Colombia

Hi there
I'm keen to get any observations about driving in Colombia.
I've been there a couple of times, but not since 2010 and never driving there.
That said, I have driven in Venezuela, so I'm tuned in to dodgy driving.
My itinerary, for late April till mid-May, (yes, I know it's likely to be wet a deal of the time) is to drive out of El Dorado Airport in Bogota, heading for Villa de Leyva, then to Medellin, Salento/Armenia/Montenegro/Ibaque and back to Bogota.
Total days: 12. Obviously, it won't be all major highway driving, but I'm very familiar with driving on poor backroads.
Any observations, no matter how trivial, are very welcome and I thank you in advance.

It can be quite an adventure! The roads can get a bit crazy, especially in the cities. People tend to drive with a certain...enthusiasm, if you catch my drift. Just be prepared for some dodgy maneuvers and don't forget to keep your eyes peeled at all times. Oh, and watch out for those pesky motorbikes, they seem to have a mind of their own! Other than that, enjoy your trip and stay safe on those backroads! Cheers! 🚗💨

Good stuff. Thank you marysmith. Motorbikes, yes well, I'm familiar with them from Vietnam and China. I'm the adventurous type, so I plan to enjoy.
