Domestic Flights within Chile

I am looking to book domestic flights for travel within Chile:
1. One-way from Puerto Montt to Punta Arenas
2. One-way from Punta Arenas to Santiago

Sky Airline looks like a much cheaper option than LAN. Are there other options one can explore?
Also, is flying into Puerto Natales an option? I had read that the airport is closed.

I tried booking flights through the SKY Airline website but am a little confused on their pricing options. When I search for flights, there are atleast 10 different Classes of Airfares that show up (Class A, X, Z, etc) for the SAME flight! The airfare ranges from USD 37 to USD 247. Does anyone know what the difference is? The fare description on some of these Classes says "Seat: Not Allowed". I haven't a clue what this means!

I saw an ad in LAN which is now LATAM's magazine that they will be starting twice weekly flights to Natales (PNT)). If you try to find those flights,

Here is the press release

I have not flown Sky... you may see the conditions shown just before you finalize the reservation if you can't find them on their website..that seems to be the way many of the SA airlines do their disclosures. Probably the language has to do wiht when you can get a seat assignment.. Even on LATAM it can be delayed until 24-48 hours before when you do online3 checkin.

Another option to look into is getting a South American Airpass on LATAM, if you are flying to SA on LAN.

Also if you have AA miles, see if you are allowed to use them on any domestic SA flights.

LAN does have an affinity credit card with US Bank. You get the bonus miles for signup after first use, with no minium so it might be worth looking at if Sky doesn't work. With LAN/LATAM, the award tickets may be charged at a round=trip rate even if you are flying oneway or open jaw. It's hard to get info from them on the phone..but their Facebook message function seems to work.

Re you question as to whether it's worth flying to Natales..depend on how short you are on time vs money. There are public buses from Arenas to Natales. It takes about half a day to get there. Plus it was rather difficult if not impossible to obtain tickets in advance except in person..And in season you need to do that. I had a reservation but still had to go ahead of time to retrieve a ticket.

Thanks mlgb for the info on LAN flights into Natales. Unfortunately, they are going to start offering those flights after my travel dates.I'll keep looking for info on the SKY fares.

And thanks for the tip on bus tickets. ... Can one purchase bus tickets online? And how far in advance would one need to purchase them in season? Any recommendations on buses, websites? Thanks!
