day trip/tour operator outside of Santiago

Will have a few days in Santiago. Of course, I will plan to do the city myself using my Fodors book for ideas as well as probably just grab a bus to Valpo and Vina and maybe Pomaire. However, I would like to go someplace interesting like the Colchagua valley just for a day and figured it might be better to enlist the services of a tour operator for that. I don't really want to spend the day at a winery, but thought I had seen some opportunities to do some horseback riding up in the hills. Has anyone done anything like this and can recommend the services of a tour operator? I will be traveling solo and most of the tours have a minimum number of persons. Any help/advice will be appreciated. thanks

When we were in Chile last year we met a family who were traveling with www.slowtravel.cl and were thrilled with their services. They can arrange a variety of trips for you.

Cocha is a huge travel agency throughout Chile. They helped us out when we needed to rearrange our itinerary while in Chile; we went to the office on Ave. El Bosque near the US Embassy after we obtained our replacement passports. Very helpful. Slowtravel is a small company offering personalized service, drivers, special cooking classes, etc In fact, Cocha may even book clients with Slowtravel;I don't know.

Thanks, I ama checking them out. Looks like the trips based on the number of people that they can get signed up. I hope they don't all have to come from the same party because I am a party of ONE!

I like the natural park trip to La Campana. Lots of hiking, would be something different.
