Day trip to Ica from Lima

Hi!

I'm currently in Lima and hoping to take a day trip to Ica. I was wondering if anyone had any information about tours from Ica city center (average price, recommendations of operators, time of departure) and if it is possible to do dune buggy in the morning and wine/pisco tours in the afternoon.

Thank you!

mysteryperu.com

long slog down 9H there and back in one day little time...

Overnite at Paracas better do the

Ballestas (Galapgos of Peru) to break your journey up

www.libertador.com.pe Double Tree Suites Hostel Santa Maria

Ica is pretty ugly better to stay on the Ocean...

Las Dunas best if you elect to stay there

Watch out for all the Ica tout scammers on the boards

NEVER wire money CC/Paypal only if u book online

which I would not... driver/guides on site from $50/half day

or deluxe bus cheap 4 hours or so... Happy Travels

I thought part of the main attraction around Ica is the Nazca lines. And Ihave been told to stay the Bay of Paracas / Ballestas Islands instead of Ica.

Nazca is about a 3 hour drive from Ica. You can fly out of Ica and go over the lines. It is more expensive than those flights out of Nazca. It just depends on what you value more time or money.

From what I've heard it is possible to do both the dune buggy and the wine tours in the same day. There is a resort named the Dolphine that you might be able to contact for information. I don't have any names of individual places.

Hi All - Thanks for the advice. I went early to the Plaza de Armas in Ica (I arrive around 1030am) and booked a city tour for 20 soles and dunebuggying/boarding for 40. The city tour was lackluster and I recommend touring the Pisco Bodegas with a specialized tour guide or by Taxi. The Dunes around the Huacachina Oasis are something special and I fully enjoyed the experience.

I ended up spending the night. The Nasca line flights average $100/$110, a steep increase from a few years ago since many of the original operators have shut down due to accidents and other unsafe practices. The flights were sold out when we went, so we viewed the lines from a viewing tower.
