Day trip from BA to Colonia
I will be in BA for a week at the end of May. I was thinking about taking a day trip to Colonia. Will I need to have Uraguayan pesos or do they accept AR$ and/or US$? Also, is Colonia worth the time and money? I saw a posting on this forum that said it was not. Does anyone have any input about this? Thanks

Colonia is a nice day trip provided you have never visited colonial sites in other parts of Latin America....Colonial sites in Mexico or Ecuador are much more impressive in my opinion.

I agree with drdawggy. THey will accept argentine pesos and dollars. Might change a little different but on the whole for one day I would pay in the currency I have.

Hi, odosmom!
About your "Also, is Colonia worth the time and money?", it is difficult to answer, because it's a matter of taste. I would much rather go to http://tinyurl.com/3xna57 but that's just MY taste. You'll definitely get a better rate of exchange if you take dollars than if you take pesos. In fact, I found paying in dollars to be quite common in Uruguay |
Hi avrooster, The link you provided takes me to Trip Advisor to a horseback riding stable. Is that correct? Thanks
|
The link is correct and I provided it so you could see the reviews they get.
I wouldn't call it a "stable". I would call it an "estancia" where the main activity is riding a horse. Have a great time in our country. |
Thanks for the info. I'll take a look at the reviews.
