Cusco-Puerto Maldonado bus - should we book ahead?
Hi again,
I can't find direct flights Cusco-Puerto Maldonado on a specific date (or else crazy expansive...). I'm thinking of taking the night bus (the 'bus-cama' with the recliners..).. Do you recommend to book them well ahead or can we wait till last minute? We're traveling with kids so I can't be too spontaneous but on the other hand I hate missing a decent flight deal .. Thanks! |
No need to book that far ahead. It is usually possible to get seats on the day unless you want to be all seated together or want VIP/Suite/ Ejecutivo seats (aka full-camp). The latter are always a good idea for overnight buses as you get wide, lie flat seats, similar to airline business class on the lower deck (where there is less swaying around on mountain roads.
I assume you will need to travel on a particular day? If so, there is little point in waiting as air fares are very unlikely to fall close to departure, esp for 4 tickets. I have heard that companies like Cruz del Sur offer cheaper tickets on their Peruvian site than on the english language site ( although I haven’t tested the theory!) |
thanks for the info.
Yeah...I've noticed cheaper flight prices in the LATAM Peruvian website...they require 'peruvian issued credit card' however...weird... If I take the bus I'll definitely take the VIP option.. |
