I am scheduled to fly out to Lima, Peru in 3 days. There is obviously plenty of concerns about the conditions out there after the flooding that has recently left so many residents homeless. If anyone is currently in the Historic Centre (Lima), Barranco, or Cusco, can you please give me updates on these locations. Are they safe to travel to? Have the floods had big effects on these three locations? My husband and I are on the verge of canceling this trip due to the mixed reports we've heard of the overall conditions and the chance of more rain to hit Lima. Any information would really help at this point...thank you!

If there are "mixed reports" you are wise to check credible sources. And by that I don't mean the Telegraph.

www.senami.gob.pe. You can get good info even if you don't read Spanish.

Be careful when you google "Weather in Lima", or "Weather in Cusco" they are both big regions, not just the city.

Since you asked for reports from now people there I won't reply much other than to say if you cancel your trip you won't get any money back from anyone. As there is presently no reason to do that.

Very little chance of rain in Lima. The mountains will still be getting rain in April, so bring a poncho or you can buy one when you get off the train for MP. There are no floods in any of those places now (just in Piura).

There forecast is far different from the ones on the weather channel. It is showing the rain letting up some. Also, our trekking company just contacted us and also mentioned it is starting to dry out now. I have not seen any reason not to travel to Lima and the Sacred Valley. We are leaving on April 9 for ten days and can't wait!
