christmas in buenos aires

I am spending Christmas with my 26 year old daughter and her boyfriend in Buenos Aires, prior to a Brazil New year's cruise. Can you seasoned travellers recomend good restaurants for dinner? Will be staying at Alvear. Looking for a nice place in Puerto Madero for dinner. Also, any suggestions for where to spend Christmas eve? Your comments will be greatly appreciated

There should be a Xmas party at the Alvear. Why don't you ask their concierge about other alternatives?

Have a great time in my town.

Of course, above I meant a Xmas Eve party.

The restaurant at the Alvear is first class - I hope they will be open on Christmas Eve/Day ?

There are restaurants on Posadas (just one street over from the Alvear) FERVER is one wonderful restaurant there, but, again, I would call to be sure of their being open and to assure a reservation. It is always best to walk to your restaurant of choice on Christmas, as Taxis are not nearly as available as they usually are.

I would email the hotel and get all the info you need from them.
Everything in town closes. Early on Christmas Eve. Walking around in the evening it is a ghost town, beautiful and quiet and empty.
No taxis .. nothing.

And we lived where all the tourist attractions etc were located ... we walked the dog in the early evening and did not see on single person out on the street.

Maybe things have changed .. just be sure you will have your meals covered, it is nice to be able to walk around town without a million taxis and traffic etc.
