Chile wine tour

Several years ago we visited Chile, enjoyed it tremendously, but were unable to do more than a quick, rudimentary winery tour. We will be returning next March to the Santiago/Valparaiso area and would like to further explore the wineries. Online searches turn up a number of tour operators, but they only visit one or two wineries. Any suggestions for more in depth experiences would be appreciated. Thanks!

Most of the good tours go to two or three vineyards with lunch somewhere. More visits would be fairly rushed. The good companies try to choose places with a certain contrast. For instance, one visit might be a larger, traditional vineyard and a second a smaller, eco-friendly one. They try to give you, however briefly, a view of the different options for creating wine in Chile. Have a look at Uncorked or Valparaiso Wine Tours.

We just returned from a tour of Matetic Winery in the Casablanca Valley today. Between the cellar tour, tasting, and lunch, we spent about 3.5 hours at the winery. The visit to the one winery, combined with a visit to Isla Negra and the journey time, filled 8 hours for us. We went on a private tour arranged by EcoChile, which we highly recommend. I agree with Huentutu that more would be rushed.
