Central Chile Itinerary over the Holidays
Hello!
Late 30's couple from NY, traveling to Chile for the first time and looking for a leisurely trip full of beautiful sights, great food/wine and a fun New Years Eve celebration. We will have a rented car. Is this a sound itinerary? Wed Dec 25 - arrive 9am in Santiago. Relax at the hotel pool all day as everything is closed Thur Dec 26 - explore Santiago Fri Dec 27 - day drive to Majo Caipo or explore Santiago more Sat Dec 28 - Drive out to Casablanca and visit several wineries. Stay overnight in Casablanca Sun Dec 29 - Visit another winery or 2, continue on to Viņa del Mar, relax at the beach/pool Mon Dec 30 - Day trip to Valparaiso.* Tue Dec 31 - Relax in Viņa, NYE Wed Jan 1 - Recovery from NYE :), relax Thur Jan 2 - TBD day. Maybe explore Valparaiso some more Fri Jan 3 - drive back to Santiago and catch an 11pm flight back to NY Should we add a day to Santiago and subtract from Viņa? Should we spend the last night in Santiago? Any recommendations on wineries, restaurants, places to visit? Anything special on NYE? Thanks! Sergey |
Since Viņa del Mar is adjacent to Valparaiso, you probably will go there more than once. We stayed in Valparaiso several nights and enjoyed it. Why is there a star on Valparaiso? Casablanca, nice area. Yes, you need one more night in Santiago. |
Not sure where the star came from :)
Thanks for the info. I am looking to maybe leaving Vina on Jan and driving back to Santiago for the last night/day. It would make the last day (Jan 3) easier given that we have an entire day until our 11pm flight. |
