Carnival rehearsals?.?

Hi
We leave Rio on 23 February 2017 to join a cruise from Ushuaia starting 24th so cannot postpone our deoarture.
I have just read about Samba schools having rehearsals for Carnival, which starts on the 24th but can't find a lot of detail.

Does anyone know anthing about these rehearsals, how diificult is it to attend and would it be worth it?
Should we try to get tickets in advance ( from whom) or ask our hotel when we arrive.

I just assumed we would miss it completely until I read this and now my curiosiity is peaked.
Thanks for any information or comments you might have..

OK, here's some info. There are 3 different possibilities that could be mentioned as a kind of "rehearsal". I haven't really looked at dates given on the site I am linking to, but hopefully you can catch some of the festivities. Rio is pretty exciting even without Carnaval though.
Also look at venues to hear live music like BipBip Bar or one of the samba clubs in Lapa.
-------------------------------
1) uncostumed rehearsals and feijoada lunches during the year at the home ground of a samba school. Pretty much over by the time the actual Carnaval week rolls around.

2) Dress rehearsals in the Sambodromo for each samba school, just before the actual event. These are uncostumed and mostly for timing and logistics.

3) Blocos (street parties) in the neighborhoods. Some start before Carnaval.

These links (below) have more info, schedules, locations, etc.

If you need any more specific info or clarification, please post.

I would also suggest www.ipanema.com as an intro site to neighborhoods, etc in Rio.
