Buenos Aires vs Mendoza
I'm going to Argentina with a friend for 8 days 7 nts in October. We're going to BA and Mendoza and we can't decide how many days to spend in each location. We're flying in and out of BA so we're thinking of spending the first 5 days in BA and the last 3 days in Mendoza. Any thoughts?

Your planning seems okay with me. If you want to enjoy more natural life or want to participate in adventure sports like horseback riding, rafting, hiking etc. you could spend more time in the Mendoza area.
Have fun, Jan |
Hello,
Unless your VERY keen on wine and pretty scenery I would go for 2 days in Mendoza and 6 days in BA, once you've seen the vineyards, been to a quaint restaurant and wandered around the town centre and appreciated the pretty landscape there's not much more to do... whereas the possibilities in BA are endless and PLENTY more than you could see in 6 days! Check out flights to Mendoza to save some time... let me know if you want some more specific info! Have fun! |
I agree with bsaexpert. A couple of days in Mendoza is plenty when there is so much more to see in BA.

Thank you so much for your feedback. We're city folk so I think we're going to adjust our itinerary to 2 days in Mendoza and 6 days in BA. Cheers!

You're welcome! Make sure you... go to a Tango (preferably with classes), eat "bife de chorizo" at a "parilla" go to Recoleta Cemetery, spend lots of times in cafes, do a walking tour and... have a great trip!

Just in case I would spend the night before your departure in Buenos Aires, in that way if your flight from Mendoza is delayed you won't miss your flight back home.
In the last few months airlines have worked ok, but in our country you never know what will happen... In BA you must have take a city tour, you can also go on a daytrip to the delta in Tigre or to Colonia Enjoy Argentina! |
there is tons to do in BA, so i would not want to cut it short...we liked mendoza very much, but there is not a lot to do there....one full day of wine touring would be sufficient and a few good meals in the town.... so 3 nites would seem about right to me...

We are going back to Argentina in Oct. Last year we did BA and Tierra del Fuego. This year we will go to Mendoza and drive to through the andes to Chile, and then to the Falls. I would suggest splitting your time: 3 days BA, 3 days Mendoza, 2 days falls, 2 days BA. As another person wrote you need to be back the before your flight. As the flights leave late at night you could visit an estancia that day and have the estancia drop you at EZE. We also found a great B&B in Palmero: otraorilla.com.ar. It is central to the nightlife in Palmero.
