Buenos Aires Itinerary Help
 

Me & my husband are planning to be in Argentina for 7 Days this month
We have planned a 2 days trip to Iguazu during the week, now trying to figure out the rest of the days.
We are in out mid 30/s and like to do activities, explore neighborhoods, enjoy eating. We are not big into museums but if there is something we should not miss then yes.

Any suggestion on this or on any day trips we take around Buenos Aires.

The last few entries cover BA.

Sort out some decent restaurants before you go. The various Palermos are great to explore, particularly Soho. San Telmo on a Sunday for the market and street theatre. Recolleta cemetery, La Boca are worth a look. Outside of BA take a train ride out to Tigre delta or maybe a boat across the river to Colonia. Visit a tango show - we enjoyed an evening at Cafe Tortoni, a BA institution. Have fun it's in Avrooster's town it's a great place!

Will you be there on a Sunday afternoon?

If so, we enjoy going out to Feria de Mataderos - the gaucho fair. It's totally unlike anything else in the city with the horse riding competitions, the folk music and dancers. There are loads of vendors with goods and food. I find it a very authentic experience with mainly local residents.

We take the subte to the end of the E Line, then catch a cab from the station. If you go early enough, on your way back to the city you can then hop off the subte to catch the end of the San Telmo fair with the tango dancers in Plaza Dorrego.

I also just visited Colonia for the first time and really enjoyed it. We went on a weekday in early spring, very quiet and a welcome respite from the hustle/bustle of Bs As.

colibri: yes we will be there on 2x sundays. :) so will for sure check the fair out, it seems very intresting.
I am very keep to go to Colonia, how does the visa work? Do we apply for it before we go (which will take a time and may be cutting it too close), or will we be able to get it at the terminal immigration? Any suggestion there?

No visa needed for the daytrip to Uruguay for American citizens, but passports are required and you should arrive at the terminal at least one hour in advance. Weekends are much more crowded.

I purchased tickets via Seacat Colonia about one month before our trip and tickets were $42 USD. It's a good deal if you know enough Spanish to get through the purchase process.
