Buenos Aires hotels
 

Having garnered a lot of information before our recent BA trip from this forum, I would like to
add my comments re the hotels we stayed in.
1 Rooneys Hotel. Very central and within walking distance ( or at least a short and inexpensive taxi ride) from most important sites. The atmosphere at Rooneys was pleasant, and friendly, rooms large and comfortable , breakfasts great and a bonus of tango lessons in the foyer (free ) Reccommended
2 Krista Boutique Hotel . Our least favourite hotel, mainly because the only sitting /breakfast room was used for conferences during the day. Maybe ok in a large hotel, but these people took precedence over the guests. The area was unattractive, though there were some good restaurantsnear by.
3 The Legado Mitico Stunning hotel in every way. The breakfast room/lounge was a substantial library with wonderful seating areas opening to a large courtyard and our room was beautiful with its own library. All this set amongst cobbled streets, lined with boutiques and restaurants. Great staff-I couls possibly live here!!

Very good information, Mandym. Could you add the barrios that in which each is located and/or the cross streets ? This will be useful to many travelers to BsAs.

Rooneys is just off the main avenues and a few blocks from Obelisco.
The Krista is in Palermo Hollywood.
Legado Mitico is Palermo Soho.
We really enjoyed Recoleta Cemetery, MALBA (Museum of Art)
a tour of Teatro Colon, though you must get tickets probably 2 days before. It pays to search for restaurants before you go as sometimes they are not easy to find. loved the food-not all steak
whish was a blessing for me but a little disappointing for my husband.
We did dine twice at the Home hotel, near the Krista and enjoyed
that-probably a better option for staying in that area too.
That said, other people on this site, have enjoyed the Krista but our experience was not memorable.

Beef in BsAs is pampas fed not

drugged up andfeedlot fed out like US beef

Less fat/marbling some do not like lots leaner though.

taste can take some getting used to...

Better for cholesterol and more humane though...

Although, qwovadis, sadly a number of restaurants in BsAs are now serving Feedlot Beef, and it can be difficult to know the difference as it may depend on the day/week and not the restaurant itself. This is why (in addition to your correct information above) a number of restaurants have different quality of beef on differing weeks/years.

My comment re meat was not about the quality! More that I do not eat red meat but my husband loves it. We live in the south island of New Zealand and he found it very like the meat we get here. We both actually loved the variety of food with its many cultural influences.
