BUENOS AIRES HOTELS

My husband and I have just booked our frequent flier miles to stay in buenos aires over christmas. Any suggestion on hotels? We like boutique hotels over larger, chain hotels. We are reading that the Recoleta area is a nice neighborhood to stay in. Any suggestions would be great!

Thank you

Recoleta is very good there are several good ones.
Nearby calle Posadas has some fine hotels , like the 4 Seasons, Hyatt, also a nice Melia Boutique. What is your budget?

Most boutique hotels are found in Palermo Soho or Palermo Hollywood rather than Recoleta. These are trendy areas of town where you will find a mix of locals and tourists. Many of the boutique hotels are found in older homes that have been converted for use as hotels. Some of the more established boutique hotels include: Hotel Bobo, Home Hotel, Mine, Miravida Soho. There are several newly opened boutiques that appear great, although they have not been around long enough to establish a reputation. The Nuss hotel looks interesting, for example.

The best offerings in Recoleta are five star luxury hotels--the Alvear Palace, Four Seasons, Grand Hyatt and the Caesar Park are stand outs. There are several smaller, less expensive hotels in Recoleta..but the real stars of the boutique genre are found in Palermo (one neighborhood over from Recoleta).

Recoleta is most noted for five star luxury hotels.

Look on Tripadvisor. They are reviewer rated from #1..... Read a few of the ratings though, because you have to wonder how some of the hotels get the standings that they do. It gives you a good idea though, since there are 352 hotels listed in BA. So, if you pick one out of the top 20, it's pretty much a step in the right direction.

DINNY: You might want to check out the Melia Recoleta Plaza, a boutique hotel in a great Recoleta location, just a few blocks from the cemetary and next door to a great eating spot: El Sanjuanino for empanadas etc. and also next to Fervor for more upscale fish and other foods. We enjoyed our stay there; the staff could not have been more helpful and kind, the breakfast was good and, again, the location was terrific - if you want to stay in Recoleta.

I stayed in the Ayres Recoleta for a few days, it was very good, and near the cemetary. I was travelling with my two teenage sons, and the room was ok for the three of us.

Near the end of our trip when we cam back to BA, we stayed in Palermo at a very good boutique hotel, and it was a more fun area:

We enjoyed the Art Hotel in Recoleta. Here's a list of mid-priced hotels that Scarlett kindly provided:

We have been to Buenos Aires twice (last January and four years ago). Both times we stayed at the Hotel Plaza Francia www.hotelplazafrancia.com

I did a review on Trip Advisor. It's well located, helpful staff, very good included breakfast, free computer, etc. We're very comfortable there and plan to stay there on future visits.
