BUENOS AIRES CHRISTMAS DAY

I will be in Buenos Aires on Christmas Day. Is there anything to do on this day outside of going to church?????? Thanks in advance.....

People have warned it is an over-priced, tourist trap but if you are hungry, Cabaña Las Lilas, emailed me that they will be open on the 24th and 25th (fixed menu on the 24th).

We were in Palermo last xmas and it was very quiet on Christmas Day. It seemed like most places were closed. 24th and 26th were almost like normal days. We just went for a walk in a nearby park and had Christmas lunch in our apartment.

Christmas Day really turns BA into a ghost town. You will no doubt enjoy the walking and sightseeing , which can be very pleasant when there isn't the usual amount of traffic. You just will not find many places open to go inside.
Check with your hotel to see about meals and if they have a list of places open. Which might boil down to mostly only hotel restaurants .. Cabaña las Lilas might not be worth it if they gave it away ..

I believe Cabaña las Lilas is a very good restaurant, but it's quite touristy and overpriced.

I wonder how much they charge for that Xmas eve fixed menu dinner?

I "believe" when I was there at Christmas some of the restaurants in the Puerto Madero Harbor area (Woman Bridge) were open throughout the holidays.

Above is a post regarding eating at Cabaña las Lilas and some remarks by people who have eaten there.

I have always suggested avoiding Cabaña Las Lilas and continue to do so.

I am in Buenos Aires right now, I agree it is family time, however I have seen in the newspaper La Nacion that several places like hotels and restaurants offer Christmas and New Year ,s dinners. Good luck.

Hi Scarlet not really. Main purpose is to visit our grandchildren. Today there is a Christmas Fair here in the Talar de Pacheco with great items locally made. All earnings if for helping people . So I have been giving a hand with the children who are delighted attending the food stand. Have a great time.
