Buenos Aires & Mendoza - Tips?

We are going to BA for 2 nights, then Mendoza for 5 nights. Want to get some nice 'exotic' leather goods (purse, evening purse, etc.) in BA. Any suggestions? (exotic = Snakeskin, lizard, alligator, etc.).

Good restaurants in BA?

Also, we are doing winery tours and lunches there. Any suggestions for dinners in Mendoza?

thanks

Thanks Orlando_Vic, we will give that one a try in Mendoza.

Get there by seven and you won't have to bother with a reservation. The owner is very sociable and speaks very good English. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

If you really want to research Mendoza wineries and restaurants, go here: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/argen...-q-thread.html

Regarding BA restaurants, I forgot to send you this link earlier. http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic..._District.html

(dr__dawggy knows this city and its restaurants like nobody else, except avrooster, of course.)

Wrong! dr_dawggy knows them much better than yours truly, because I live 40 miles out of town and drive into BA as seldom as possible!

MarnieWDC also knows more about the subject than I do, as she stays in the Palermo Botánico area every year for two months or more.

Have a great time in my town.

Perfect thank you!

cristina,
Why would they not go to the leather district on Murrillo street first?

Orlando_Vic: Could it be because Murillo is cheaper and better?

I don't recall seeing many 'exotic' leather goods in BA. One you might want to check out is carpincho (made from the capybarra - native only to South America). The leather is unique looking, but is not very strong. Most of the carpincho purses I saw were fairly traditional in style. It would have been nice to see a greater range of styles to suit my personal preferences.

We checked out places on/near Florida as well as Murillo. You will likely have more luck on Murillo as it has more upscale and mid level shops, with a broader choice, and has a much more pleasant atmosphere as well.
